Dear Parents/Guardians,
With the winter months approaching, it is critical that we all play our part by monitoring our own and our children’s health. Please keep a child who is not feeling well at home. If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, please contact your medical provider.
- Fever (100.4° Fahrenheit or higher)
- Chills or shaking chills
- Uncontrolled new cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- New loss of taste or smell
Our continued implementation of the hybrid model is allowing us to maintain continuity of education despite the rising number of COVID cases in our area. To ensure that we protect the health and safety of the Branford school community, it is important to notify the people listed below in each of the following scenarios:
| Parent/Guardian should notify | |
Scenario | School Personnel | Other Professional |
Child has COVID-related symptoms (see above) | School nurse | Child’s medical provider |
Child tests positive for COVID-19 | Child’s grade-level administrator (BHS & WIS) or school principal/program director (Elementary and PK) | East Shore Health Department |
Family/household member tests positive for COVID-19 | East Shore Health Department | |
Child is required to quarantine due to close contact outside of school | N/A |
Finally, please remember that there is no school for students this coming Monday, November 2, 2020, and Tuesday, November 3, 2020. On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, students will engage in remote learning following their school’s usual hybrid Wednesday schedule. We hope you will exercise your civic right and responsibility by voting in this year’s election.
Best regards,
Hamlet M. Hernandez
Superintendent of Schools
