Dear Parents and Guardians,

In recent weeks, I have spoken to many of you regarding the District’s hybrid model.  You have expressed concern about your children’s education and the challenges of supporting their online learning effectively.  Many of you have urged a return to in-person learning.  Others of you have pointed out the disproportionate impact of weather events on one or the other cohorts.

In recognition of the latter, we are adjusting next week’s model.  Please see the dates below:

While this may cause some inconvenience, thank you in advance for understanding the rationale for this decision.

- Monday 2/15 – NO SCHOOL

- Tuesday, 2/16 – NO SCHOOL

- Wednesday, 2/17 – Remote learning as usual

- Thursday, 2/18 – Blue Cohort In-person, Orange Cohort online *

- Friday, 2/19 – Orange Cohort In-person

*This is a Change

Our schools are also continuing to explore ways to extend in-person learning through the use of time before and after school and on Wednesdays.  Should the positivity rate continue to trend downward and the rollout of Phase 1B of the vaccine is extended to educators, options to get more students safely back to regular in-person instruction become more realistic.  However, because of the pace of Phase 1B implementation and the uncertainty associated with the new variants of the virus, it is impossible to provide a specific date at this time.

As always, your patience and partnership in these challenging times is appreciated and valued.

Best regards,

Hamlet M. Hernandez

Superintendent of Schools
