Dear Parents and Guardians,

Tomorrow night, the administration will present a framework to return to full in-person instruction.  Up to this point, the hybrid model has permitted schools to remain open since September and we are fortunate no school has been forced into full remote learning.

As the public health metrics change and trend downward, and the vaccination “rollout” for BPS faculty progresses, the District is poised to implement a phased-transition to full in-person learning.  As stated last week March is a transition month.  Throughout this month, the district will coordinate, consult and communicate with ESDHD to determine the feasibility from a public health lens of our anticipated steps toward the goal of full in-person instruction by April 19, 2021.  Commencing next week, and during the intervening weeks, the district will steadily add more in-person learning opportunities.  We anticipate returning to full in-person instruction as the predominant instructional model after the April school vacation.

With light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we are excited about the upcoming weeks but cognizant of the fact that our measured framework may encounter unforeseen challenges.  Should this occur, we will focus on maintaining a safe and sustainable learning model for our students.

Sincerely,

Hamlet M. Hernandez

Superintendent of Schools
