Ashley Marinaro
Curriculum Coordinator Grades 5-12

Ashley joined Branford Public Schools as a Curriculum Coordinator in 2013.  She began her career in Norwood, Massachusetts, where she taught ninth and tenth grade English.  After teaching at Boston English High School in Boston for nine years, she moved back to Connecticut and became a literacy coach in the Stamford Public Schools. Mrs. Marinaro grew up in Guilford, Connecticut and attended Hopkins School in New Haven.  She received both her B.A. in English and secondary education and her M.A. in developmental educational psychology from Boston College.  Ashley earned her sixth-year degree in education leadership at Quinnipiac University in 2012.  She views her education during her master’s degree as integral in understanding children and young adults and the influence of families, schools and communities on development and learning.  Ashley believes student voice and choice, as well as a problem-based approach, are most important to learning any concept, and in meeting every individual where they are in order to help guide their continued development.  During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and playing with their three-year-old twins, James and Stella.  When she can, she also enjoys skiing and taking in a good book at the beach.

Lauren Skultety

Lauren joined the Branford School District’s teaching and learning team in 2014 as the elementary curriculum coordinator.  Before coming to Branford she worked as a literacy coach in Hamden and Naugatuck.  In addition to supporting teachers in those districts, Lauren was an interventionist, where she focused on providing remedial support to struggling students.  Her career began in Regional School District 13, where she was a special education teacher for 6 years.  Lauren grew up in Guilford and attended the Guilford Public Schools.  She received her undergraduate degree from Providence College and an M.A. from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) with a specialization in reading.  This specialty area informs her leadership and teaching approach, as she views early literacy as a crucial part of academic success.  Lauren earned her sixth-year degree in educational leadership from SCSU in 2014.  Lauren views collaboration and a growth mindset as the key to success for students and teachers.  During her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.
