June 2022

Dear Graduate Parents/Guardians,

Congratulations!  Your senior will graduate from Branford High School in two weeks, reaching a milestone and entering a new era in their life.  The last thirteen years of education and experiences have ideally provided each of our graduates with the skills, abilities, and attitudes to become active, well-rounded citizens.  Your role in the educational process has been important, and you deserve recognition for your efforts and support.

Graduation will be held on the Town Green at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  In the event of rain or the threat of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Dr. Edmund C. Higgins Student Center at Branford High School.  A decision will be reached in the early afternoon, with information posted on the Branford Public Schools website and through the IC Messenger notification system.  This decision must be made early so that final preparations can be made prior to 6:00 p.m.

In case the ceremony is held in the Student Center, each senior will be given four (4) tickets.  We will also simulcast the ceremony to the BHS CathyAnn Roding Auditorium and New Gym.  If graduation is on the Green, tickets will not be required and seating will be on a first-come basis beginning at 4:00 p.m.  ALL signs attempting to reserve seating before this time will be removed.

Shuttle bus service to the Green from the high school will be available beginning at 4:45 p.m.  Because of limited parking in the town center, please consider using the shuttle services.  Buses will return to the high school following the ceremony.

Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 20 in the BHS Media Center from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.  To receive your cap and gown, all books and other accountabilities must be returned or paid for.  If your student is keeping a book needed to complete the school year, the book must be returned by 12 noon, June 22, 2022, or they will not receive a diploma.

Only seniors receiving a scholarship award are expected to attend the Senior Scholarship Awards Ceremony on June 20th at BHS in the Auditorium.  Seniors are notified by invitation prior to June 20th.  Those seniors should wear their gowns only, no caps.  Seniors should be at the BHS Student Center by 5:30 p.m.

All seniors must attend graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, June 22 at 10 am on the town green.

Graduation Day is a time which will long be remembered.  I know we all want this to be a ceremony of which we can be proud.  The seniors are expected to conduct themselves with dignity and maintain the decorum such an event deserves.  Your support and reinforcement of this message will be greatly appreciated.

Again, I congratulate and thank you for your support.  I look forward to seeing you on June 22nd.
