Dear Parents and Guardians,  

The Branford High School Mathematics Department would like to offer various summer learning opportunities to maintain core skills and foundational understandings that were introduced over the past school year.  Research shows that students who continue math activities during summer months will retain 25% more material as compared to students who do not engage in math learning activities throughout the summer.  

State of Connecticut Recommendation for Summer Math Practice
The 2023 recommendation is for students to participate in one of the following challenges based on your child’s grade level.

Khan Academy is a common core aligned teaching and learning tool that our students can use to strengthen and practice their math skills.   It is recommended that your child works within the grade level band that they are entering. However, they are not limited to that particular grade level set. Students can practice in any grade level that they are comfortable working with.

Summer Math Enrichment
All students are encouraged to utilize Khan Academy to explore key concepts found here for the course in which they will be entering in the fall. The activities found on the key concept list will support both computational and problem-solving skills.
